Alexis Bosworth leads Guam girls, Michael Gaitan fronts George Washington boys

Ten high schools on the island of Guam finished their regular season at the IIAAG All-Island Championships with a very strong performance by Guam High School girls team, led by Alexis Bosworth (22:05) and Megan Speck (22:24), who finished 1-2. Megan had been the consistent regular-season winner, but had to settle for second behind Alexis. Naomi Blaz (22:32, George Washington) and Chantal Torres (22:50, Okkodo High School) finished out the top 4. Guam High had 8 runners before runner-up George Washington High's 5th runner. The George Washington High boys placed 3 in the top 9 to take the boys title. GW's Michael Gaitan (jr, 18:39) was the individual winner. Saint John's Eric Brady (18:51) and GW's Gregorio Gogue (18:56) had a close battle for 2nd. Tuan Dinh (19:20) of Father Duenas was 4th.
Highlights
- Alexis Bosworth (Guam HS) completed the 5k course in 22:05 with Megan Speck (Guam High) the closest competitor in 22:24
- Junior Michael Gaitan (George Washington) claimed first place in a time of 18:39 over Eric Brady (St. John so) second in 18:51
- George Washington earned the boys title; Guam HS took the girls title
